Forse non ci crederete ma sono sempre io. Nella prima e nella seconda foto. Sono solamente trascorsi un po’ più di quarant’anni. Da studente sono passato a pensionato, con un po’ di capelli in meno!
Maybe you do not believe it, but is always me. In the first and in the second picture. There only are a little more than forty years difference. Student in the first photo and retired in the second! With…less hairs!

Ma quello che è importante è che queste foto, che erano racchiuse in una delle tante scatole di fotografie presenti in casa mia erano state scattate con la piccola Polaroid Swinger che possiedo ancora e che vediamo nella fotografia…hmmm 40 anni dopo!
But what is important is that these photos, which were contained in one of the many cardboard boxes which are in my house have been made with the small Polaroid Swinger camera which I still have and we can see in the picture…hmmm, forty years later!

Oggi siamo abituati a scattare in digitale e vedere subito il risultato ma negli anni ’60 il vedere una foto pochi secondi dopo essere stata scattata era una vera emozione. Già. perchè la fotografia ha anche un forte legame con l’emozione ma di questo parleremo un’altra volta.
We are used now to shoot with our digital cameras and check soon the result. But in the ’60s to have a photographs in our hands a few seconds after the shot was a real emotion. Yes, because photography has a lot to do with emotion, but we’ll speak another time about this.
Le foto una volta asciutte dovevano essere spalmate con un apposito prodotto, fornito con le pellicole per prevenirne il deterioramento. Devo dire che funzionava, grazie Dr. Land, perchè a 40 anni di distanza le foto sono ancora visibile. E devo ringraziare mia mamma che si prese la briga di scriverci sopra la data. Forse qualcuna è leggermente ingiallita, ma la si può vedere. Chissà se qualcuno fra 40 anni riuscirà a vedere i nostri file odierni…
When dried the photo had to be coated with a special product supplied with the films in order to prevent any deterioration. And I have to admit it worked because now, more than 40 years later I can see them. Thanks Dr.Land! And I have to thank my mom who wrote the date on the photos, grazie mamma! Maybe there is a light yellowing in a few of them, But I can still see them. I do not know if in 40 years time our files could be seen by someone…
La conservazione delle foto è per me una cosa molto importante. Nei ricordi ci sono momenti della nostra vita. I nostri affetti, i nostri cari. In casa nostra la fotografia è sempre stata molto presente, grazie papà, ed ha documentato tante gioie. Nella foto a fianco sono mia mamma e mio papà durante il pranzo di Natale 1973. I miei genitori non ci sono più, ma queste foto e tante altre mi aiutano ad sentirli vicino. E questo mi piace.
The conservation of photographs is for me very important. In our memories there are important moments of our lives. Our tenderness. Our loves. In my family photography always played an important role, grazie papà and all major events have been documented. In these photos are my parents during the Christmas lunch in the year 1973. My parents are no more with us, but these photos and many others help me to feel them beside me. And I like this.
E allora una raccomandazione a tutti: è bello scattare in digitale, lo faccio anch’io. Ne conosco i vantaggi. Ma per favore, ogni tanto qualche foto stampatela. Dopo potete metterla in un album o lasciarla in una scatola, di scarpe o di biscotti non importa. Ma fra qualche anno vi farà piacere vederla.
And now I have a suggestion for you all: it is nice to make digital photos, I do it as well. And I know all the advantages. But please, sometimes print some of them. And than you can leave them in a box, a shoes box or a biscuit box it doesn’t matter. But in a few years you’ll like ti find them.
