Su un’autostrada verso Berlino ho visto dei pesci bianchi e rossi ed ho pensato che portassero fortuna ai viaggiatori.
On a german motorway I saw a few fishes, white and red and I thought they could bring luck to the voyagers
Filmiamo quelli”
A friend ask me why take the photo of a few fishes on a motorway, I answer with the words from Robby Müller, mythical photography director who worked with Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch, Peter Handke, Peter Bogdanovic and other movies authors.
“There is a beautiful landscape but we have already seen it on a calendar. Look here: a small tree and a rock. Sad, but they say much more. Let’s film them”
E voi cosa amate fotografare quando siete in viaggio? Cosa attira il vostro sguardo? Preferite il dettaglio o una vista generale?
And how about you? What do you like to photograph when traveling? Do you prefer a detail or a larger view?

I really enjoy the quote by Robby Müller. It goes to the core of being creative. Just like you Polaroid of fishes found alongside a motorway. Personally I do both, the big views as well as searching for the small, and telling, details.
Yes, at the end we need a balance on our way of seeing
I love details and I look for them, or they find me. But I also like to step back and get the larger view, for context. I have enjoyed photographing goldfish at botanical garden pools. 🙂
Sorry for late answer, sometimes comments go lost not sure why. You are correct, as Otto says we also need big views and details. Fishes in a pond can be a good subject, it’s up to us to make them interesting!
I enjoyed scrolling through your travel photos. I like seeing what catches your eye 🙂
Nice to know you like them. More to come…
