Lo scorso mese di luglio mia moglie ed io abbiamo partecipato ad un mostra collettiva insieme ad altri fotografi, pittori, disegnatori e scultori. Il tema era “L’uomo” e partendo dall’uomo Vitruviano di Leonardo per arrivare all’uomo moderno ogni interpretazione era possibile. Le diverse tecniche utilizzate, i molteplici stili e le visioni personali dei partecipanti hanno reso la mostra interessante.

Last July my wife and I took part in a collective exhibition together with other photographers, painters, drawers and sculptors. Theme was :”The man” and starting from the Vitruvian Man of Leonardo and arriving to the today’s man any interpretation was possible. The many different techniques, styles and visions of the attendees made the exhibition interesting.

Qualcuno fra gli amici non è potuto intervenire e poiché desiderava vedere i nostri lavori abbiamo organizzato una mini-esposizione appendendo le nostre foto nel soggiorno di casa.
A very good friend could not visit the exhibition and because was interested to see our works we organized a mini-exhibition hanging our pictures in the living room.
Per questa esposizione, ricordo il tema era “L’uomo”, Simo ha presentato un trittico con foto scattate a Oslo durante il nostro road trip, è l’opera dell’artista finlandese Kaarina Kaikkonen dove magliette sono appese a una di quelle strutture che di solito nei paesi nordici servono per essiccare i pesci. Il testo dell’artista dice:
“In ogni maglietta è presente una storia, perché qualcuno con un cuore pulsante l’ha vestita. Tante persone diverse stanno insieme qui, ma noi siamo sempre gli stessi, non siamo più saggi dei pesci. E ci comportiamo come pesci, muovendoci sempre in gruppo, seguendo gli uni gli altri nella stessa direzione, proprio come un branco di pesci.
Noi siamo parte della natura, e la nature è dentro a noi.”
For this exhibition, I remind you the theme was “The Man”, my wife Simo decided to show a triptych made with photos taken in Oslo during our recent roadtrip: it is the work of the Finnish artist Kaarina Kaikkonen in which t-shirts are hanging on one rack where usually in the countries of north Europe fishes are dried. The text which accompanies it is the translation of the writing from the artist, which you can read in the following photo.
Io ho presentato invece una piccola serie di Polaroids rappresentanti degli affreschi, o quanto rimane con soggetto umano e una meridiana dalla quale ho tratto il titolo del lavoro: “L’uomo misura il tempo, il tempo misura l’uomo”.
I showed a series of Polaroids of a few frescoes or what remains of them depicting famous men and a sundial which gave the title of the work : “The man measures the time, the time measures the man”.
Fare fotografie è bello e ancora più bello è quando riusciamo a farle vedere, sia pure in una piccola mostra locale o anche solo a degli amici nel soggiorno di casa.
To make photographs is nice and even nicer is when we manage to show them, even if in a small exhibition or sharing them in our living room with good friends.
E voi cosa fate con le vostre foto? Certo il web offre molte possibilità di mostrarle , siete soddisfatti di questa modalità? Vi capita di far vedere delle stampe? Mi piacerebbe sapere come fate a proporre i vostri lavori. Dopotutto la fotografia è comunicazione e sarebbe un peccato tenere in un cassetto quanto abbiamo fatto!
And now, how about you? What do you do with your photos? For sure the web offers many possibilities to share them, are you satisfied of it? Do you sometimes show real prints? I would like to know how do you propose your work- After all photography is about communication and it would be a shame to leave them unseen in a drawer!
