E’ vero, da quando ero giovane l’America è stata fra i miei sogni. E lo è ancora, con qualche differenza perchè invecchiando sono diventato un poco più critico!   Il jazz. il rock&roll, Dylan, Tom Waits che musica. E gli scrittori partendo da  Hemingway con “il vecchio e il mare”, Steinbeck con “Furore” per arrivare a Corman Mc Carthy con “La strada” drammatico e intenso. Strade? e non posso dimenticare William Least Heat Moon e le sue “Strade Blu”. L’Harley Davidson e la Ford Mustang. La fotografia americana, Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Robert Mapplethorpe tanti nomi, ognuno con una sua visione. E sempre visione è, il cinema. Woody Allen, Scorsese, Spielberg, Orson Welles. E John Ford. E l’arte, Warhol. Edward Hopper. E la Coca Cola…

It’s true, since when I was young America was among my dreams. And still is there, with a few minor differences because getting old I became more critical! Jazz and rock&roll, Dylan, Tom Waits, what a music! And the writers, starting from Hemingway “The old man and the sea”, Steinbeck “The Grapes of Wraths” and arriving to Corman McCarthy with “The road” dramatic end intense. Roads? I cannot forget William Least Heat-Moon and his “Blue Highways” . The Harley Davidson and the Ford Mustang. The american photography, too many names among which Diane Arbus,  Richard Avedon, Robert Mapplethorpe. And the movies, Woody Allen, Scorsese, Spielberg and Orson Welles. And John Ford. And the art, Warhol. Edward Hopper. And the Coke. 

Arte vuol dire collezionisti e musei. Il Guggenheim. il Moma. Tanti altri. Come appassionato fotografo ho sempre desiderato esporre in un famoso museo americano ( i sogni non costano!). Ma questo è un sogno che potrebbe avverarsi: con l’operazione 6x6x2012. Che ho scoperto attraverso il blog di Megan Charland, un’artista americana ricca di creatività ed entusiasmo il cui sito e blog vi consiglio di visitare. Il Centro d’Arte Contemporanea di Rochester organizza una mostra cui chiunque può partecipare, inviando da uno a dieci lavori il cui formato deve essere 6×6 (pollici, siamo in America). Questi lavori verranno esposti e messi in vendita a 20 US $ ciascuno per contribuire a finanziare il centro stesso.  I lavori che non verranno venduti durante l’esposizione verranno messi in vendita in seguito on line. Artisti famosi e non fianco a fianco, esposti in modo anonimo.

Art means collectors and museums. Guggenheim. MoMa. Many others. As passionate photographer I always desired to exhibit in a famous  american Museum (dreaming is not expensive!). Now this dream could become reality through the operation 6x6x2012. I discover this via the Megan Charland’s blog (she’s an artist reach of creativity and enthusiasm and I really suggest to follow her site and blog). The Rochester Contemporary Art Center organizes an exhibition in which everyone can take part, just sending from 1 to 10 artworks whose size must be 6×6. These works will be exhibited in anonymous way and will be for sale at 20 US $ each in order to finance the RoCo. The pieces which will be not sold during the exhibition will be sold online later. Famous and non famous artists will exhibit one beside the other.

Io ho deciso di partecipare e come detto in questo post l’altro giorno ho stampato una selezione dal mio lavoro in corso “storia di un migrante”. Se le foto non andranno perse durante il viaggio e se arriveranno in tempo potrò finalmente dire di aver esposto in un prestigioso museo americano, il Rochester Contemporary Art Center. A questo punto non sarà importante se nessuno le comprerà, la soddisfazione è che saranno appese là! E…Rochester è la città della Kodak !

I decided to take part and as I said here a few days ago I printed a selection from my ongoing project “a migrant story”. If the photo will be not lost during the journey and if the will arrive within the due time I will be able to say that my pictures have been exhibited in a famous america museum: the Rochester Contemporary Art Center. In that moment it will be not important if nobody will buy them, my satisfaction is to know they have been hanging there. And…Rochester is the city of Kodak !
