Pioggia? si grazie 🙂
Dopo quattro mesi secchi, con allarmi siccità ovunque abbiamo avuto un’oretta di pioggia. Non risolve i problemi della siccità nei territori ma almeno ci ricorda cosa è la pioggia!
After four dry months with drought warnings everywhere we had one hour of rain. It doesn’t solve drought problems in the territories but at least it reminds us what rain is!

Aprile 2020, settimana 4 di chiusura
Siamo alla quarta settimana in casa. A questo punto ci si abitua. Distanziamento fisico. Dal balcone ogni tanto si vede qualcuno. Distanziato. Le nostre città sono diventate più silenziose e gli animali si stanno guadagnando spazi maggiori. Le passioni coltivate per anni, come lettura, disegno e fotografia aiutano a far trascorrere il tempo. La primavera è qui attorno e risveglia il desiderio per qualche viaggio, da dimenticare in questi giorni. E allora vado a vedere le foto di qualche anno fa, come queste del 2015 scattate con il cellulare dal treno mentre andavo in città. Ho sempre amato scattare foto da veicoli in movimento e il treno è il mezzo ideale, Quando sono in auto il più delle volte devo guidare!
This is our fourth week of lockdown. At the end we are getting used to it. Physical distancing. From the balcony I see somebody, sometimes. Distanced. Our towns are now more silent and animals are conquering more spaces. The passions I have since many years like reading, drawing and photography help to spend the time. Spring is around and the desire for a trip as well! It will be not possible for a long time, something to forget. Therefore I look at pictures I took in other trips years ago, like these taken with a mobile phone from the train going downtown Milan in 2015. I always love to take photo from a moving vehicle and trains are the ideal starting point. When I’m in the car most of time I have to drive!

Recentemente ho letto, credo sulla “Lettura” supplemento domenicale del Corriere che un viaggio lo si gusta tre volte: quando lo si prepara, quando lo si fa e quando lo si ricorda.
C’è una altra cosa piacevole di un viaggio per me: è la sensazione al ritorno di essere di nuovo a casa. Noi, mia moglie ed io siamo appena tornati da un viaggio vacanza ad Ischia e ora ci gustiamo questa sensazione anche se avremo bisogno di almeno una settimana per rimettere tutto in ordine, ma anche questo fa parte dell’esperienza del viaggio!
I recently read that a journey can be enjoyed three times: first when you prepare it, second when you do it, third when you remember it.
There is another pleasant moment in a journey in my opinion: the feeling when you are back to be home again. We, my wife and me are just back from a short journey holiday to Ischia (Island in South Italy) and now we are tasting this feeling even if it will take at least a week to put everything in order, but this also is part of the journey experience!
Nota fotografica N° 1: ho scelto di scattare durante questo corto viaggio con una vecchia Polaroid Land 340 (macchina che era di mio papà) per il colore e la nuova Impossible I-1 per il bianco e nero. Far foto per due settimane sapendo di avere un numero limitato di scatti a disposizione è secondo me molto interessante: ne parleremo quando avrò scansionato una parte delle foto per poterle pubblicare.
Photo note # 1: I decided to shoot with an old Polaroid Land 340 (which was my father’s camera) for colors and the new Impossible I-1 for B&W during this short journey. Photographing for two weeks knowing to have a limited number of available shots is in my opinion very interesting: we’ll discuss it when I’ll have scanned a part of the pictures in order to post them.
Nota fotografica N° 2: la foto che apre l’articolo invece è stata scattata con un cellulare (sono flessibile:-))ed una app per riprodurre l’effetto antico. Non è fra le mie abitudini ma trovo in qualche modo affascinante che molte persone usino tecnologie molto avanzate per introdurre “difetti” nel risultato fotografico. Anche di questo ne parlerò.
Photo note # 2: the opening photo has been shot instead with a mobile phone (yes I’m flexible) and an app to reproduce this antique look. It’s not something I usually do but I find fascinating that many people use a very advanced technology to introduce “defects” in the photographic outcome. It’s another topic about which I’ll speak.

Ma a volte ci sono delle piacevoli sorprese, come domenica scorsa: usciti di casa di mattina presto, con la temperatura ancora sopportabile per fare la quotidiana camminata anti pigrizia, cuffiette nelle orecchie, ho visto sul marciapiede della mia via alcuni piccoli fiorellino. Forse semi trasportati dal vento che hanno trovato il loro posto.
But sometimes nice surprises are behind the corner, as last sunday: going out early in the morning, so long the temperature wasn’t too hot in order to make our daily walk against laziness, earplugs on, I saw along the sidewalk a few small flowers. Maybe seeds arrived with the wind which found their place.
Noi fotografi a volte diciamo che la miglior macchina fotografica è quella che hai con te quando ti serve. Nel mio caso l’ i.phone che avevo per ascoltare un po’ di musica e rendere l’esercizio fisico meno noioso. E allora ho scattato queste piccole foto…
We photographers sometimes say the best photo camera is the one you have with you when you need it. In my case it was my i.phone which I had in order to listen to some music in order to make the physical exercise less boring. Therefore I used it to shoot a few frames…

Nell’ultimo articolo ho spiegato come il mio nuovo progetto, o esercizio per ora sia incentrato sulla ricerca di una non perfezione ottenuta in macchina. E’ una mia ricerca che segue una sua regola.
In my last post I explained about my new project, or exercise at this stage is based on the research of a kind of no-perfection obtained in camera . It’s a research I’m doing following a rule.
Ma anche se gli amici mi chiamano filmosauro (non sempre!) so apprezzare i benefici delle tecnologie digitali applicati alla fotografia. E se vedo qualche cosa di interessante so anche adoperare l’i.phone e qualche filtro, così per prendere appunti visivi.
But even if my friends call me filmosaur (not always) I can appreciate the benefits of digital technologies when are applied to photography. And if I see anything interesting I even use my i.phone and some filters, so just to take visual notes.
E a volte prendo appunti anche solo con un blocco e qualche matita. Hmmm, in questo sono proprio un principiante, devo lavorarci ancora tanto…
And sometimes I take note only with a paper block and a few pencils. Hmmm, here I am absolute beginner, I still have to work on this…
Gli appunti sono utili come promemoria per nuovi progetti, per test visivi, o semplicemente per ricordare un bellissimo oggetto trovato per caso, come questo vecchio pianoforte in un bar di Vicenza, oggi.
My notes are useful as memos for new projects, as visual test or simply to remember something beautiful, like this old piano I found by chance today in a coffee-bar in Vicenza.

Anche questa volta non avevo una macchina fotografica con me, soltanto il cellulare.
This time as well I had no camera with me, only my mob phone.
Ma come ha ben detto Anette nel suo commento a un mio post la sensazione è diversa. Fotografare con una macchina e una pellicola è un’esperienza diversa. E allora ho messo una pellicola nella mia vecchia Rollei 35 e ho iniziato a scattare. E le foto? Ci vuole tempo…
But as Anette well said in her comment to my post the feeling is different. Taking photos with a camera and a film init is a different experience. Than I put a film in my old Rollei 35 and started shooting. And the photos? It takes time…
C’è qualcosa nel cielo

Qualche giorno fa, prima delle grandi piogge ho fatto una passeggiata in un piccolo parco non lontano da casa. Per fare un poco di movimento, tenermi in forma, respirare aria un poco più pulita del solito. Non intendevo fare fotografie (anche perché gli alberi mi riescono quasi sempre male) pertanto avevo lasciato le mie macchine fotografiche a casa, in mano tenevo solamente i bastoncini da nordic walking.
A few days ago, before the heavy rains I went for a walk in a small forest in a park not far from home. Just to move a little bit, to keep my body working and breath some fresh air. I had not planned to make photographs and I had left my cameras on their shelves. In my hands just nordic walking sticks.
Molti fotografi amano parlare delle loro attrezzature: questa marca è meglio di quell’altra perché….bla…bla…bla… Many photographers love to discuss about their gear, this brand is better that that one because …bla…bla…bla…
Ma un altro detto comune dice che la miglior macchina fotografica è quella che hai con te quando ti serve. But another saying says that the best camera is the one you have with yourself when you need it.
E allora quando ero nel bosco e ho visto certe luci fra gli alberi ho pensato che grazie alla tecnologia odierna una fotocamera l’avevo con me: quella del mio cellulare. Quella era la miglior macchina fotografica in quel momento!
Than when I was in the wood and saw certain lights I thought that thanks to today’s technology I had a camera with me: the one of my mobile phone. That was the best camera in that moment!

Dopo qualche settimana di stress per rilassarsi non c’è niente di meglio che giocare un poco, mettendo in esercizio il bambino creativo che è dentro di noi. E allora ho ordinato queste divertente pellicole Lulu Guiness da Impossible, ho preso la mia SX70 e ho fatto un ritratto a mia moglie. Dopo ho assemblato una composizione adoperando il cartone della spedizione e le scatole delle pellicole e ho rifotografato il tutto con l’i.phone!
After a few stressful weeks there iOS nothing better to relax than playing a little bit giving freedom to the little creative child who is inside ourselves. Therefore I order these amusing Lulu Guinness film from Impossible, took out my SX70 and made a portrait of my wife.Than I assembled a composition with the cardboard box from the shipment and the boxes of the films and I photographed it with the i.phone!
