Primavera e fiori sono un classico. Ovunque, nei giardini e sui terrazzi. In casa e fuori. Nei libri e nel web. Fiori, tanti e sempre belli. E allora anch’io ho voluto mettere dei fiori nel mio blog. Ma questi sono fiori speciali. No, non è vero: speciale è il posto dove sono.

Spring and flowers are a classic. Everywhere, in the gardens and on the balconies. Inside and outside home. In the books and on the web. Flowers, many flowers and always nice. Therefore…me too! I wanted  flowers in my blog! But these flowers are special. No, it is not true: special is the place where the flowers are.

Questi fiori sono sul tavolo di lavoro di Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, oggi considerata la maggior scrittrice e poetessa tedesca dell’ottocento. Nata nel 1797 in una famiglia della nobiltà della Vestfalia  fu educata insieme ai fratelli e sorelle da precettori privati, con musica e letteratura fra le materie di studio ed iniziò a scrivere da bambina.  Di salute cagionevole soffrì di problemi di salute per tutta la vita,  con frequenti mal di testa e problemi agli occhi. In una lettera ad un amico nel 1843 Annette von Droste-Hülshoff scrisse: “non desidero essere famosa ora, ma mi piacerebbe che mi leggessero fra cento anni“.  Come scrisse Margaret Aktinson, critico letterario Annette era una donna avanti rispetto ai suoi tempi e la sua opera si colloca al punto di transizione fra il Romanticismo ed il realismo. Trascorse gli ultimi anni della propria vita sul lago di Costanza, a Meersburg, dove morì nel 1848. 

These flowers are on the working table of Annette von DrosteHülshoff, today one of Germany’s best-known and respected literary figures. Born in a noble family in Westphalia in the 1797, she suffered from problems with her health throughout her life, including headaches and eye troubles. Together with  her siblings she was educated in music and literature by private tutors  and began to write as a child. In an 1843 letter to a friend, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff wrote: “I don’t wish or want to become famous now, but I’d like to be read in a hundred years.” As the critic Margaret Atkinson wrote she was ahead of her time and just at the point of transition between Romanticism and Realism. She spent the last years of her life on the Costance Lake, in the town of Meersburg where she died in the 1848.  

Vedere lo stesso paesaggio che vedeva lei attraverso la finestra dello studio è stato veramente emozionante. Il villaggio, le colline, il lago con i colori delle stagioni hanno sicuramente avuto una grande  parte nell’ispirazione di questa donna, che forse per predisposizione naturale, forse a causa della salute cagionevole ha sempre condotto una vita appartata.

Being able to see the same landscape she was looking at through the window of her study has been a pure emotion.

The village, the hills, the lake with the changing colors of the various seasons for sure had an important contribution to the inspiration of this woman who, maybe because  of her delicate health or because of a natural inclination always had an isolated life.

Alcuni fotografi amano documentare, altri propongono emozioni. Io provo ad essere fra questi. E la poesia aiuta a vivere meglio.

There are photographer who love to document. Other prefer to share emotions. I try to be among these. And poetry helps for a better living.
