Christmas time, with a hope :-)

Tempo di Natale, con speranza 🙂

please scroll down for english text, thanks

The star on the top of my small Christmas tree is hand made of iron wire and gold or silver painted paper. It’s an humble object but made with a lot of attention and love. It comes from a far place and a difficult time and is a small present made to my parents by a couple of friends a few days after my birth, wich was in december as I wrote in my last post. We are the same age. The small candles and glass balls are only a little bit younger, I remember them since I was a small child.

Christmas is for me a celebration for our hearts and because I’m catholic is the celebration of a birth. Therefore in spite of the  world I see around myself I desire to give birth to a little bit of hope, to spread  joy and serenity. In order to imagine a better world. And because I believe in the young I suggest all the friends who follow my blog to take a few minutes time, switch on the audio system and look at this video.

Grazie ragazzi!

The music, as all the arts demands practice, time, passion. And the young students of the Cusanus Chorus from the town of Erkelenz in Germany show us that it is still possible to believe into the possibility to stay together, to work together in order to build something nice. And to give us joy, emotion, serenity. Thank you guys!

And if now you want to listen to the entire concert you’ll find it here.

This should be a blog about photography and lately I digressed. But photography is not only about making a “click”, to photograph means also to feel something, to look around ourselves, to try to understand…any way to be forgiven I close the post with a photo of one of my small Nativity from a few years back and build around  a photographic accessory very useful in a darkroom. You want to know more? This is the post about it!

As always I suggest to click the photos for an enlarged view, also the video of the chorus can be better seen (HD) with a click on the YouTube logo. And you know your comments and suggestions are always welcome, thanks.

5 pensieri su “Christmas time, with a hope :-)

  1. Robert,
Hoping you will have a merry Christmas! And, I must say “Thank you” for this post and the choral music you linked to in it.

2018 has not been an easy year for me and my family, so these sort of random moments of joy have become much more important to me. And the knowledge that there are moments such as this to still discover is one of the things that has and will continue to be a balm to me.

I would probably not have known of this nor watched it without your sharing it, again thank you!
And, even though several of the individual songs are not–in their original versions–close to my favorite nor particularly my kind of music, this group of school kids have endowed or imbued these songs with an almost tactile sense of joy. Joy in their own performance and joy in the listening.

All the best to you and yours, kind sir!

    • Thanks Rob for your appreciated words. For me as well 2018 was not a easy year, I lost my brother last summer. But even in difficult moments I think it is important to try to find a few minutes to look for, to find out the strength to go on. And art, could be music or painting or other things can help. For me the strong point in this video is not the music itself but the joy and the positive energy which emerges and is spread around by this group of young people.

Wish you a Christmas full of peace and serenity, with friendship
      robert
