“Life is a dangerous adventure…” by Ramon J. Sender, poet

 “La vita è una pericolosa avventura dalla quale nessuno esce vivo.”  Innegabile, semplicemente vero. Essenziale. E’ una frase del poeta spagnolo Ramon J.Sender nato a Huesca il 3 febbraio 1901.

“Life is a dangerous adventure from which nobody gets out alive.” Undeniable, simply true.  Essential. It is a sentence by Ramon J.Sender, spanish poet born in Huesca ,  february 3rd 1901. 

Il tre febbraio dell’anno prossimo sarà il centoundicesimo anniversario della sua nascita per celebrare la quale l’associazione VISUAL HUESCA  organizzerà una presentazione audiovisiva intitolata LEAP YEAR PHOTOGRAPHS (fotografie dell’anno bisestile) domandando a 111 fotografi di almeno 50 diversi paesi del mondo di interpretare visivamente alcuni testi selezionati dalla sua opera. Io ho il piacere di essere fra questi 111 fotografi.

February 3, next year will be the 111th anniversary  since his birth and to celebrate it the association VISUAL HUESCA will organize an audiovisual presentation titled LEAP YEAR PHOTOGRAPHS asking 111 photographers from throughout the world to visually interpret texts selected from Sender’s extensive work. I have the pleasure to be among the 111 photographers. 

La difficoltà maggiore quando si deve tradurre visivamente uno scritto è di evitare la banale illustrazione delle parole. E quando ci si trova di fronte a frasi come quella che ho citato secondo me occorre lasciarsi andare e seguire il cuore più che il cervello. Alcuni delle foto di lavori personali che sto preparando mi sembravano adatte. Altre foto sono state scattate pensando a queste frasi e dopo un accurato editing la mia selezione era pronta.

The main difficulty when we have to visually interpret a text is to avoid the banal illustration of the words.  And when we are in front of sentences like the one I mentioned I think all what we have to do is to free ourselves and follow the heart more than the brain. In the works I’m preparing there are some photos which could be appropriate which I choiced. I shot some other on purpose and after some editing my selection was ready, which you’ll find down here.

I believe, without placing blame, that the poor man was born with no choice in the matter - perhaps against his own will - and that he is taking the joke as best as he can .
