Festa della Mamma e pensieri casuali english text in blue, below, scroll down please
Many things on my to do list, not much free time. Sometimes setbacks that interfer with what you would like to do. And the health sometimes requires some precautions which takes away part of your time, also that is important! Like the small simple hand surgery I had one month ago, it is all ok now. Simply sometimes there is a little bit of laziness. Therefore it happens the blog takes a pause. Be patient please, it is like it is!
A few days ago in many places it was Mother’s Day. Ususally I am reluctant to take part in these celebrations with a strong commercial background, but this year I have been thinking about. And I thought of my own of Mom. And to the moms of all those boys who involuntarily found themselves fighting in the war.
Yeah, the war. These are my parents in a picture taken during a vacation, on the back my mom wrote the date, 1951. The war, World War II had been over for a few years and a little serenity had returned. I found some of the letters that Dad had managed to write to my mom. And the question is always: when will the day come when the war is over?
From my Dad’s letter, “So, one day after another goes by and always one thinks the same thing, in the morning when there is a wake-up call, at night when one has just gone to bed: “When will the day come when the war is over?”
Who knows if it still takes that long? At least to know a date, something definite, but this way you only make thinkers, suppositions, and you are always in the same uncertainty and hope that once by necessity it must end and you can go home.“
Unfortunately for those who are fighting in the war now I do not see many chances that day will arrive early, so sad.
But I would like to close in a more positive way with a couple of pictures celebrating the summer. We have been in the shop of a farm to buy a few eggs to cook with the asparugus and I saw these poppies. Summer is behind the corner, I only hope it will be not too hot! But even on my terrace a few things will bloom 🙂
